I bought the 3TB version for ~$240 and I am very happy with it. I also considered the Synology DS212j but that is ~$200 without disks.

Once you do your homework and decide that the specs on this unit is just what you want, you'll be fine. If you have used other NAS products, you may find that this one comes up a bit short. This drive (once it lasts) does the NAS basics with no frills. You even get web access (cloud) features with not much setup pain. As is the case with most hardware products these days, there is always a firmware update available right out of the box. It ran okay, but the screen feedback as to the update process was terrible. Once you have done firmware updates before, you should be able to get around the lack of feedback. The drive itself is very quiet and minimalist in design. No switches or anything to touch on the box itself, just data and power and you handle the rest via software. Buyers remorse did creep in when just two days after getting it delivered, the price drops by $10, but that's life. The Nova backup software installed okay, but there is also an upgrade for that which I must pay a processing fee to get. Not cool, and I won't be upgrading or probably even try to run Nova. It's not a well known solution and there are tons of free alternatives that I already use. Time will tell how well the drive holds up, but this is a great solution for homes and home offices. I did install the Web Access feature on three of my android devices, and it works as expected.

July 17th 2012 Update:
This NAS is working great, and it's very reliable. I am using it as a cloud drive, accessing from android devices and it gets the job done. It is very quiet and I have timers set for start/stop. With the value that this NAS brings (now $168), I am seriously thinking of getting another to use as a backup for this one (they have an option to backup to each other). Not regretting this purchase at all. Really great for the SOHO user.

After running out of space on my laptop and my WD passport 1 TB, I was tired of USB cabled hard drives so I did my research and found Buffalo Linkstation Live as well as the WD My Book Live. The reviews on the WD were not the best, with alot of people complaining of faults so I decided to go with Buffalo.

Setting it up was so easy, I didn't think it would be so easy. I connected the device to my wireless router with the ethernet cable that comes in the box then I used the CD that came in the box to install the software needed. All I did was press next a couple of times and voila the NAS was ready to use. You have to use the NAS Navigator software that you installed to tell your laptop to connect to the NAS. Once you do that you can map the NAS to a drive on "my computer". It mapped the NAS to the M drive and now its like I have an extra partition or hard drive on my laptop.

I started to copy my movies and tv shows to the NAS using terracopy. I was getting speeds around 7-8 mb/s copying the files.

The user guide that is on the cd is very helpful and very easy to understand. There is a web interface that you log on to in order to access the settings of the NAS as well as the torrent feature. Downloading torrents was very easy, the torrent application is identical to uTorrent. You paste the torrent url in the application and it automatically downloads the file to the NAS.

I haven't tried accesing the NAS online (cloud) or accessed through my PS3 but will update when I do.

Overall the product is fantastic, much better than I expected. I can now remove all the junk on my laptop and store it on the NAS in order to run my laptop faster. I'm planning to get an SSD on my laptop but was worried about the lack of space on those things. Now I don't have to worry about that. I Don't know how I lived without it till now....
