I'll be quick. The device is marketed as compatible with Linux clients. It isn't. It
won't work. The only two network protocols available are CIFS (Windows File Sharing) and
rsync. And rsync doesn't work. Once you finally get the 32-bit storage manager program
installed (tough to do on a 64-bit machine (x86_64) like mine), you will learn that there
is no way to transfer files from your Linux machine to the NAS device.

Here's the email received from IOMega technical support department following my telephone
    call:

"Thank you for using Iomega's Online Support Services. I sincerely apologize for any
inconvenience you may have experienced using your Iomega product.

Thanks for sending the dump file. I spoke to one of our advanced support group about the
problems you are having and he confirmed that the EZ Media is really not the right tool (no
NFS and an extremely limited rsync.) Check out the new IX2 (or for that matter one of the
earlier ix series devices.) They all have NFS and full rsync capabilities."

There you have it. They sold me a device advertised as supporting Linux and acknowledged,
after purchase, that it doesn't - but that the fix is to buy another device costing nearly
    twice as much.

Chance are thin that we'll be purchasing any more IOmega products.

After flashing the firmware with an update from Iomega's own website, and following their instructions exactly, it bricked the device, and now it's completely useless. Iomega refuse to replace the device, even though it was their own update that broke it. I will never buy another Iomega product again, and hope to spare anybody else the same experience.
